Post by Hunt Valley C&C on Thu Mar 07, 2013 7:22 am

We’re approaching the 3-week mark for March 30’s One-Year Anniversary. As of this morning, here are the Facebook interest stats: 258 “Going”, 81 “Maybe” and those 339 enthusiasts have invited another 505. Of course, Facebook doesn’t provide the complete picture. Many of our latest additions have heard of us via conversations with other enthusiasts or have even heard about us on non-automotive message boards. The span of grassroots advertising has been truly impressive and it can be directly attributed to the scope and passion of our region’s automotive enthusiast community.

Hunt Valley Towne Centre will be prepared with a well-defined coned area near Joe’s Crab Shack for everyone that wishes to display their cars. There will be ample space to accommodate car club parking. If larger groups desire to park together – for convenience and photo opportunities – please arrive early as a group (if possible).

Admission is free for everyone. Donations are encouraged to help cover organizational costs. If you start your cruise to Hunt Valley before breakfast, Caribou Coffee, Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A and Wegmans will be open early for coffee and snacks.

Over the past year, many top photographers have been attending our gatherings and March 30 will be no exception. Since this event will be larger than average, photography will be taken to the air via a local helicopter service. Consider this an early notice to detail every top surface on your automobiles. Smile

Baltimore County Police and Silver Star Security will be present to ensure a safe environment for all of our participants and their cherished automobiles. In particular, the policemen and women of Precinct 7 have been truly excellent in accommodating and providing additional security for our group. All in attendance have been automotive enthusiasts and to be honest, their work vehicles are pretty amazing in their own rights.

The foundation is set for a very memorable Saturday morning to celebrate our region’s automotive enthusiast community. For more information, please refer to the links on display earlier in this thread.

Its time to replenish your detailing products and maybe set the plan to bring your hibernating automobile back to life. We look forward to seeing everyone on March 30!

Two weeks! You have one weekend of prep remaining for the One-Year Anniversary then we’ll all have one morning of appreciation of our region’s diverse automobile culture. Get ready to expect the unexpected. While we’re nearing the end of our ‘off-season’, yesterday’s gathering was a prime example of the unexpected…even in the morning rains.

While the weather turned sour yesterday, the '27 Carrillo Ford Roadster was very sweet. Its on the way to Pomona for next weekend's Hot Rod Magazine 65th Anniversary Homecoming Car Show. This beauty was the fastest roadster on the Bonneville Salt Flats in '51.

This '39 Studebaker definitely isn't the same as the old boss. Its also on its way to Pomona for the Hot Rod Magazine 65th Anniversary Homecoming Car Show.

Yes, expect the unexpected! Our location within the Hunt Valley Towne Centre allows for hundreds of cars. There’s easy access from I-83. On Saturday, March 30, start your morning bright and early, take a nice cruise and celebrate the region’s finest cars and finest enthusiasts.

If you’re a Facebook member, you can sign-up here.
* As of this message release, there are 338 expected to attend, 109 considering and another 607 on the Facebook invite list.
* Registration isn’t required but it’ll provide an expectation on attendance. If you don’t have a Facebook membership, totals are also being gathered from message boards and in face-to-face interactions. You’re all invited.

If you would like to be part of our Facebook Group, you can request an invite here.
* As of this message release, the Facebook Group just reached 600 members. Bringing everyone together, we may just be 1,000 strong! Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for taking the ride. May there be many, many more!

What a wild ride it has been. Enthusiasts from all generations have brought automobiles from all marques and generations to our weekly gatherings. You have all combined to create an eclectic community that fosters respect for their fellow enthusiast and love of all automobiles. Thank you to everyone for taking part.

See you all on March 30!

Re: Hunt Valley Cars & Coffee (MD) - 2013 Edition

Post by Hunt Valley C&C on Thu Mar 28, 2013 1:07 pm

The One-Year Anniversary has arrived! We’re all set for this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Arrive early if you can! Without further ado, lets investigate the parking map. If you are trailering a vehicle and plan to roll it off, there’s a dedicated area that should be accessed from the York Road entrance. All other vehicles should access Hunt Valley Towne Centre via Shawan Road or McCormick Road.

There are 3 entrances for show cars (marked with an “E”) on the south end of the “Show Car Parking” zone. The early arrivals will frame the perimeter – with the assistance of our esteemed parking directors – to permit smooth north-to-south filling of the zone and to allow for the barriers to be removed for a smooth exit later in the morning.

New Safety Guidelines signs will be present at each of the south entrances. As always, safety and respect for all participants and our host are paramount. If you arrive early, casual assistance in helping people - in your immediate area - back into their space is appreciated.

Andretti Autosport will be in attendance this Saturday with their Indy Show Car! This process started many months ago and nearly to the minute of the announcement of Andretti Autosport taking over management of the Grand Prix of Baltimore. This week, it finally came to fruition.

Also in the ‘long-time coming’ department, about 3 months ago, I contacted Meguiars about our One-Year Anniversary. The expectation was to receive a few product samples as entrance giveaways. As of yesterday morning, no shipment was received so I filed the process in the ‘maybe next time’ file. Well, last night, the UPS driver dropped off 144 samples of Meguiars Wax and Wax. Top timing.

Speaking of car care products, you and I are running on a tight schedule to shine the car – if it hasn’t been done already. Be sure to take some extra time on the top surfaces of your cherished automobile. There will be a helicopter in the skies to capture photos and video. Garrett Lucas, brother of Saturday morning regular Tyler Lucas, will be piloting the helicopter while David Harrison will be alongside producing his stellar photographs. Video via GoPro will be attached to the helicopter for a perspective of our Saturday mornings that we have never witnessed. Thank you to the Lucas family and David for offering their expertise so we can capture some great memories.

The weather looks solid with no precipitation for Friday and Saturday. We’re very lucky on this front.

Over the past 12 months, I have met so many special people and have learned about their life’s passions. I’m truly blessed for this opportunity and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for participating in our Saturday morning gatherings. The future is bright for our region’s automotive enthusiast community and I’m fully committed to ensuring that bright future. We look forward to hopefully seeing you this Saturday for our One-Year Anniversary as well as down the road!

Re: Hunt Valley Cars & Coffee (MD) - 2013 Edition

Post by Hunt Valley C&C on Wed Apr 03, 2013 8:40 pm

Thank you to everyone in attendance for the One-Year Anniversary! It was special in so many facets. I read an estimate of 825 show cars but we'll have to review the parking space count to come to a more exact figure. The original allotted space was set for 660 cars and it was expanded 3 times – in addition to the 'unofficial' parking nearer to Shawan Road, overflow at Wegmans and the impromptu parking for the GT-R Invasion from Katie’s Cars & Coffee. Bring all of that together and consider an overall headcount of approximately 2400! Truly unbelievable!

Thank you to the locals. Thank you to everyone from deep into Virginia and Pennsylvania, from Delaware, from New York and even North Carolina! Cars from all marques and generations gathered in a family-friendly atmosphere to appreciate the widest spectrum of cars and a fantastically-diverse group of people.

So this message doesn’t extend into newsletter format (like it did on Facebook and…the newsletter), I’ll list the thank you’s without waxing ecstatic on each. You already know that you’re #1, top-shelf awesome.

Andretti Autosport/Grand Prix of Baltimore (Indy Show Car), the Lucas family (helicopter), David Harrison (helicopter media), Silver Star Security, Baltimore County Police, Hunt Valley Towne Centre/Greenberg Gibbons Commercial (site host), Rite Way Valet and our volunteer parking directors, Boardwalk Fries (quick action on food and drink), A2Z, Inc. (Photo Booth app) and last but not least, Collectors Car Corral (our inaugural sponsor).

It all comes back to you. Thank you for participating and coming together to form such a special community. Everyone that took part on Saturday is invited to return each and every week. While we cannot expect to host over 800 car enthusiasts and 2400 people on a weekly basis, I would love to see each and every one of you return on your own rotation. When a Saturday morning has an open spot on the schedule, we'd be honored to see you again. We’ll be here every Saturday morning from 8-10. Thank you.

This Saturday morning will feature top-quality cruise weather so if you’re in the region and have some open time on your schedule, visit us at Hunt Valley Horsepower between 8 and 10 a.m. Bring the friends. Bring the car club. Bring the family.

Be on the lookout for the announcement of our next special event. June 1 and June 15 are finalists but some final organizational facets must fall into place before an official announcement is made. The word will be broadcast far and wide so I’ll bet you won’t miss it.

Next week, Hunt Valley Horsepower will be signing the contract with Baltimore County’s Adopt-A-Road Program. For anyone that has done some cruising of the stellar country roads in ‘north county’, you may know the 3.6-mile stretch of Thornton Mill Road. We love driving our roads. If each of us gives a few minutes to revitalize our roads, it’ll make those drives even more special.

Here are a few photos that were recently uploaded to our Flickr Photography Page.

See you down the road at Hunt Valley Horsepower!

Spread the word among the Mustang community about the next big event in Hunt Valley on Saturday, June 1 (8 - 10 a.m.). It has been a pleasure to host so many generations of the Ford family. That goes for the cars and the owners.

Post by Hunt Valley Horsepower on Fri May 10, 2013 6:18 pm

Thank you to everyone that has been there from the start and thank you to everyone that has joined our family over the past 14 months. It has been an honor to connect owners from all generations and to see cars from all marques and generations in one location.

While we gather every Saturday, we’re nearly 3 weeks away from a special gathering on Saturday, June 1. We’ll celebrate our community along with some special guests. Also, you’ll have an opportunity to sign up for our involvement in Baltimore County’s Adopt-A-Road Program. The road of choice is Thornton Mill Road – not only because of its proximity to Hunt Valley Towne Centre – but because it’s a road that is enjoyed my so many automotive enthusiasts.

Feel free to check out our Facebook Fan Page -- https://www.facebook.com/HuntValleyHorsepower -- where you can see a video of the adopted road. [Facebook membership is not required to view.] The 3.6-mile drive starts on the northern end of Thornton Mill Road at Gerber Lane and continues until its southern end on York Road. For reference on its proximity to Hunt Valley Towne Centre, the video closes at that point. Please be aware that the video speed was increased 2x to bring the time under 4 minutes. Smile

[On the page, you’ll also be able to see the short video by Joseph Townsend that provides a nice cap to our One-Year Anniversary on March 30.]

If you are a Facebook member, you can register for the gathering on June 1 right here -- https://www.facebook.com/events/458987850842662/458995374175243. Registration is not required but it helps set the table for on-site planning. As always, there is no admission fee. Its about the people, the cars and our special community. Come celebrate for two hours (or more if you like). Spread the word!

See you down the road!

The Early Spring Gathering is 10 days away!

All marques and generations of cars are invited. If you have been in attendance at our weekly gatherings and possibly our One-Year Anniversary on March 30, you have knowledge of the fabulous variety of cars and fantastic people that congregate in our family-friendly environment.

Please check the following link for more information. [Facebook membership is not required to view.] If you are a Facebook member, you can also register here. Registration is not required but the developing totals assist in planning.

https://www.facebook.com/events/458987850842662/458995374175243

Caribou Coffee, Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A and Wegmans will be open at 6:00 a.m. to satisfy your need for personal fuel. California Pizza Kitchen will also be offering food and drink within our gathering’s confines.

As always, there is no admission. The parking area will be open at 6:30 a.m. for the early risers and anyone that wants to ensure quality parking for their car club.

As many of you know, parking by classification isn't always necessary. If your group of 3 is comprised of a '50 Studebaker Champion, '11 Lexus LFA and a '77 Trans Am, park as a group. Common sense rules the morning. The main benefit of the map is to accommodate car clubs that focus on a classification.

If you are local to our region, you are encouraged to sign-up for future involvement in our Adopt-A-Road Program. 4 times per year, we’ll get together to make Thornton Mill Road look sharp and we’ll be protecting our local waterways to boot.

Remember, we gather every Saturday but Saturday June 1 is a little extra special. Smile

See you down the road!

The Early Summer Special Gathering is less than 72 hours away! Its time to review the weather forecast. The morning’s temperatures will be rising through the 70’s and are projected to reach near 80 by our 10 a.m. departure time. The roads are projected to be dry overnight and through the morning.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/hunt-valley-md/21031/weekend-weather/2121248

If you’re a member on Facebook, you can note your attendance here… https://www.facebook.com/events/458987850842662/458995374175243
** If you do not use Facebook, simply arrive, we have the space to accommodate you. Smile

There’s no admission. There’s no judging. Its simply a great time with a quality group of automotive enthusiasts.

Hunt Valley Horsepower has adopted Thornton Mill Road as part of Baltimore County’s Adopt-A-Road Program. Keep an eye on the Facebook Fan Page -- https://www.facebook.com/HuntValleyHorsepower -- for more information if you would like to participate! The first clean-up event will occur in the summer.

Re: Hunt Valley Cars & Coffee (MD) - 2013 Edition

Post by Hunt Valley Horsepower on Mon Jul 01, 2013 7:23 pm

The week of Independence Day is most appropriate to make this announcement. From 8-10 a.m., we'll gather at Hunt Valley Towne Centre for our “Late Summer” Special Gathering on Saturday, August 10.  Expect hundreds of show cars from all marques and generations.  If you have been to either of the 2 specials this year, you know that there’s something very special on the horizon.

There will be an appearance by the Ron Capps Dodge Charger R/T funny car, the first funny car ever to break 4 seconds in the quarter-mile.  Also, be on the lookout for a 1-of-69 ’13 COPO Camaro among many other special guests.

Afterward our gathering, there's an added feature for our American muscle car owners.  The first step is a 1.5-mile caravan from Hunt Valley Towne Centre to NAPA-Hunt Valley. Plenty of specifics are in development but a special guest has just been confirmed. How about a 2-time Daytona 500 winner and the pre-race co-host of NASCAR on FOX? Yes, Michael Waltrip will be appearing at the American muscle car show at NAPA-Hunt Valley! Shine it and show it and make it a 2-stage Saturday!

As more cool stuff is confirmed, it'll be posted here as well as on the Facebook Event Page.  You can view the Event Page with or without Facebook membership.  If you are a Facebook member, please note your attendance.  Its not essential, but the Facebook numbers help a bit with planning.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! REPRESENT MDPATRIOTSTANGS ON TV!

On Monday, I learned that Motorweek, television's original automotive magazine, will be doing a story on our community and they will be filming on Saturday, August 10! While I rarely make the call to shine up your favorite set of wheels, this may be the best Saturday to exercise some extra shine time. Your car, truck or SUV may be seen on international television!

For more information on the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, additional special appearances, the short caravan to the Domestics Show with Michael Waltrip and more, check out… http://horsepowering.com/specialgatherings/

If you’re on Facebook, note your attendance here… https://www.facebook.com/events/656409114385678

Spread the word to your car club, friends and family. See you on August 10!

Our automotive enthusiast community will bring smiles to many disadvantaged children this holiday season.  Consider the joy that your donation to Toys For Tots will bring a child.  Spread the word among your enthusiast friends.  Bring the family!

Date & Time - Saturday, October 19 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. (Show cars can enter the coned area starting at 6:30 a.m.  Its well-known that Santa arrives early!)

• As always, there’s no admission fee.
• You are encouraged to bring a new toy (boxed and sealed if applicable) and place it in one of the Toys For Tots collection boxes that you’ll see at the big blue event tent.
• If you love your car, truck or SUV, you’re invited.  All marques and generations participate.

On Saturday, October 19, we'll expect to see a Humvee and a few Marines that will be volunteering their time to represent the cause and to assist with our donations. Thank you to Gunnery Sergeant Howard from Toys for Tots for his commitment.

Please join us in bringing smiles to disadvantaged children throughout the region over this holiday season. As always, there is no admission. You are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy...or maybe two. Smile Thank you in advance for helping elevate our community for this honorable cause.

Hunt Valley Horsepower is also running a caravan to the Vaughn Gittin Jr. drift event this Saturday. We’re departing from our gathering in Hunt Valley at 9:30 AM for the short trip to Parkville. Demos, ride-alongs, autographs, free food and drink and more! Bring your friends and family. Check the horsepowering link in the opening post for details. All are invited and admission is free.

The Toys For Tots gathering is here! Accuweather predicts partly sunny skies with temps rising from the low 50’s to the upper 50’s for Saturday morning (8-10 AM) in Hunt Valley.

Vehicles can arrive as early as 6:30 AM which is especially handy if you want to catch breakfast before the bulk of arrivals. As always, there is no admission. If you can donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys For Tots, you’ll bring smiles to a disadvantaged child in Baltimore County. Saturday morning is about elevating our enthusiast community for an honorable cause.

Saturday morning is for the kids! Thank you for your participation and thank you for your donations. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning!
