RPm is 0

Post by mine1317 on Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:05 am

I need some help guys. My rpm gauge is reading 0 when ever i come to a complete stop. I'm not sure how this happened but my car idles fine and my engine does not die or anything like that. Could this be just a calibration issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a tuner? if so flash back to stock, then reload the tune.

If not disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect se if that resets everthing for you.

There are also known gauge issues on the S197's... The stepper motors take a dump. Especially on your early one.

I disconnected the battery but it really didn't really fix it. So I decided to go to the dealership and told them what the issue was. They said it was a "fork" something for the gauge. They said it would cost around $900 for parts and labor. On the bright side, I bought a 3 year warranty when I purchased the car. They said it should cover everything Smile

This happens to my gauge cluster every winter for some reason. Got the same story from the dealer. In my case it usually fixes its self in a day or two.

For $900 I would buy mods vs repair that issue that seem to sort it self out ROTFL

well, it kinda fixed itself. The needle stays between 0-1000 rpm during idle but, as soon as it passes 2500 rpm, it kinda hesitates. Are you guys suggesting not to have it fixed? Warranty would cover everything though, I won't have to pay a single penny for it.
