Not the 70's technology Steve that Pete was looking for, it was to be a badass in a badass car

Thanks for the positive comments! I know this is the Ford Den... hence my caution at the start.

Yep, we need to convert cars less than 30 yrs old to RHD. On a new model car, this runs at between 35-45K all up as it needs to have specific engineering requirements to meet Australian Design Rules... So a new 5.0 would ring up about $85K landed in Australia by the time I converted to RHD, got relevant Engineers certifications, shipped & payed tax TWICE (once here & once in Aust.) .... would probably be a bit more in reality.

I was looking for a classic Mustang, but couldn't afford a high HP model from 65-68 as they are rare & expensive. Well, at least not in the condition I wanted. This is because we run into import problems if the car has a different period engine or is highly modified. It's a long bureaucratic story....

So, I happened upon a fully restored '69 SS 396 internally worked to a 402, pumping out 425 HP, but she looks stock as a rock. Just what I wanted.... a sleeper.

If I could take a new car back, I would have bought a 2012 GT500... but that was never really financially viable at about $110K landed.

I've always liked classic muscle and preferred to avoid the "all show & no go" type of cars and go BIG...

I was just reading on the Ford Racing site where Ford may offer a right hand drive Mustang in the redesigned 2014 model, for export to the different countries, but no one knows as to what it will look like when it hits the street yet.

Now if I could afford any car I wanted, it would be an Australian Ford, Falcon XC Cobra just like this

I fell in love with this car after seeing the Last of the Interceptors on Mad Max, it looks to me like a cross between a Mustang and a Torino, using the best of both, with the exception of the grill, if it had a mustang grill, that would finish it off, but other then that I think this is one of coolest cars in the world.

And let's not forget Holden's offering at the time. Holden HG Monaro GTS 350 from '70-71 and it is a coupe!

These are the most desirable cars of the period.

Looks a lot like the 67 US Falcon 4 door

But the XC is my dream car, dont even need to be a Cobra, in fact a XC Panel would be even cooler

And nothing against 4 doors, but I like the coupes my self better.

You Aussies sure love your performance cars, maybe even more the Americans, we got a lot in common, both England outcast, and all around trouble makers. ROTFL
