Hawk Ceramic Pads

Post by pikuoff on Thu Jun 11, 2009 7:34 pm

I am about to order some new brake pads for the first time since I upgraded to the Bullitt brakes. I was looking at getting the Hawk ceramic pads for the front and back. Are they good? I don't know much about brake pads.

Thanks!

Hawk's are great!

However... they need to heat up before you will notice them really gripping. Also if you have not upgraded your brake hoses I recommend this, because on cold stops you will notice you will need to press a little firmer. With braided lines it will feel more firm and more responsive.

The Hawk HPS pads are the best for street applications.

not to hijack but can you keep your stock calipers and just change the hoses to get more performance out of hawk pads?

+1 on the Hawk HPS pads....put some on the Cobra with drilled and slotted rotors. Stops MUCH better than it did prior.

Sweet, those are like $30 cheaper for the front and rear! I am going to stick with the stock Bullitt/Cobra rotors for now and lines just to see how it feels so far. If I don't like it, I'll upgrade then since it's pretty easy to change that stuff!

Thanks for the help!

the ford rotors still are awsome as long as you don't abuse your brakes like a bastard step child at every red light.

Getting them from CJPonyParts (10%off friday orders). I'm getting some Rear Upper and Lower Control Arms too.

Well, the fact that this is the first time I've changed pads in a couple years, I think I'm pretty easy on the brakes. I don't think I need to change them yet, but I want to make sure my brakes are good for the next Drag Day!

Re: Hawk Ceramic Pads

Just purchased the Hawk HPS pads for the front and rear, along with some upper/lower control arms and some mud flaps. Was very close to buying a set of 17x10 SC Style rims but the 10% off didn't apply to them so I said eff em. I also picked up some red dupli-color so I can finally paint the rear calipers so that they match the Bullitt brakes up front. Hopefully I have time to install all this before the Drag Day!!!

The mud flaps are only for the track. They snap on and off pretty easily. I don't think I want to run them all the time. We'll see how lazy I am Smile
